CLASS PROJECT

HEELS'N FEELS

A somewhat furry Visual Novel point and click game created from scratch to finsih in a two week gamejam with my classmates. Join the ragtag team of heely wearing friends in their efforts to hide a body that might be their fault. Solve small activities, enjoy delightfully stupid banter and pick your answers leading to different outcomes.

My Doings

At the beginning of the two weeks we created concepts in groups of two. Me and Noe came up with this and won the vote (barely).

I was the mechanics lead. Together with Lorenz Kleiser and Leonhard Holzenburg we came up with the controls, the way the game plays and the minigames.

After Mechanics I joined the Art team led by Dana Senn. I helped with character design and asset creation. Especially necessary were trash assets to convey to coders how the minigames and dialogue worked.

To-Thanh Le was our overall organizer. Since I was part of conceptualization I took on the role of the mediator between certain teams, so tasks were properly executed.

Initial Idea

The inital idea was to make a relatively simple point and click game (coders didn’t like that). Our focus was on dialogue and sillyness. Additionally, we aimed for three different endings and around 45 minutes of play time. Since the game itself had to happen in roughly a week, we’ve cut content and focused on our best ideas. Our teachers also helped us to define our vision before it all just… had to happen.

Game of the Pandemic

For the first time ever this exceptional teamwork module had to happen from the confines of everyone’s own four walls. Our teachers weren’t sure how we would do that and told us that they are willing to give us some slack.

We didn’t need that. Organization went smooth thanks to Discord, Zoom and other Google Docs and Sheets. That’s how an 18 headed group of almost strangers managed to create a 45 minute long game in two weeks.

“This game made me incredibly happy. I loved the characters so much, and the art, and all the silly game mechanics.”
